Wow, haven't been here in a while!

Hello blog world! Sorry I have kept you off of my to do list lately.. but here is some gossip on what has been going on in the world of my Senior Thesis Project:

First of all- I'm sticking with the actual materials from the Rock Paper Scissors idea however, I'm not blatantly saying that is my overall theme. So, now these are my new names and logos (thanks to my mom and dad for all the help in the car to Oklahoma!)

Hotel 67, The Vue @ State Street and Reeds Salon and Spa

These are my main couches for my hotel. I just wanted to show everyone how fly they are!

My floor plan is about 95% complete and I'm working on putting my boards together. I will be working on this project from 1:30-10:30 today so hopefully I will be very much ahead and ready to start on the book sometime mid week. I want to say I got done with my Senior Thesis early! Also, I will try to keep posting what I've been up to occasionally. I may post my floor plan once its done for all to see!

Have a fabulous day!

Logos!!!!

These are my logos for the Hotel, Salon and Restaurant.

Progress: Obviously, I have made headway on logos. I just like Photoshop ok? =)

Also, I see want I want done in my head; I just haven't made it to AutoCad to fulfill my thoughts.

Problems: I'm having problems deciding where I want my Spa as well as how I want to add a wow factor to each room. I will do some brainstorming this weekend.

Plans: My plans are to brainstorm and get going on the actual plans!

Week 5!

Today I'm focusing on the design of my boards, the fonts I'm going to use for the restaurant name and finding more inspiration for a logo. We’ll see what happens. In the mean time, I like these pictures of a front desk and lobby area for the hotel...

So what do you think about these rooms!?!?!

I found these funky hotels at this site :

These designs blow my mind with how "out of the box" they are.. Crazy cool though.

Inspiration & ideas are flowing!

So, after a weekend of thinking about my concept, I have solidified some ideas at this point. First of all, I believe I have decided to go for the more edgy, modern textiles and materials. Secondly, my RPS idea has been a back and forth battle with how to name the hotel, restaurant and spa, should I separate the names, make it all the same etc. Finally (after talking to my mom, the best advice giver ever!) she helped me decide on a direction.

Drum roll please....

Rock Paper Scissors Resort & Spa

My thought process was to use Rock for the Restaurant, Paper for the Hotel and Scissors for the salon and spa. Each room would have their separate themes but all still come together as a central theme. People (theoretically) would maybe say, "I'm staying at the Rock Hotel" or " I got my hair done at Scissors Salon," but it would all be under one name in telephone books, Internet and each area would answer the phones as a whole resort.

Ok, that may have been a little confusing so here are some inspirational pictures I have found to further explain.

Week #1

Ok, I'm a little behind on blogging. This actually isn't my first blog. My first one failed. I did about three or four posts and never went back. Good thing I have to keep up with this one! Anyway, this is the last semester of my college career. I'm already finished with the first week & it flew by. I feel this will be the theme for the semester. FAST. I am determined (as many of my lovely wonderful classmates are) to go out with a bang! No stressing and having excuses to not hang out, workout, spend money etc. Live it up class of 2010.

Now, on to discussing this final senior thesis project. I have had an idea for this project since Christmas break. Actually, this idea came to me a few years ago for a restaurant I thought would be a neat concept. For now (gotta have a little suspense) we are just gonna call it RPS.. I will post soon when I find exactly what direction I'm going with my concept. That way it will be easier to explain & more exciting of a presentation of my idea! Right now I could go two different ways... vintage or edgy ..Stay tuned!

This is the edgy inspiration picture I've been toying with....
